Help Honor the Memory of UFD BC Phil Rounds:
A long time public servant, Phil Rounds, passed away last year from cancer (see article in the archieves). Phil served as a Battalion Chief for the University of Alaska Fire Department. Besides being a great firefighter, husband, and father Phil dedicated much of his life to training young firefighters. There is no way to measure the impact BC Rounds had on our community. Many of the young firefighters he instructed, guided and mentored are making a difference everyday in communites accross this country. A scholorship was set up in his memory to continue his love of assisting young firefighters begin their career in the fire service, and now we need your help.
As of August, 2009 the Battalion Chief Phil Rounds Scholarship at the University of Alaska Fairbanks has a little over $16,000 in it. Many people have generously contributed to this fund in honor of Phil. Our goal is to create a permanent endowment, which requires the fund reach a minimum of $25,000.
There is no better way to honor Phil than by getting a scholarship endowed in his name. Please consider a gift of any amount. It’s easy to do! Just go to https://ssl.uaf.edu/ua/uafound/forms/securegift_UAF.html to make an online contribution. You can also call UAF Development Officer Naomi Horne to give a gift via phone or if you have any questions. Her number is (907) 474-6464.
